The SCARA Robot Work Cell
View video of the Scara Robot work cell in action.
This work cell shows the Denso HS-E 4-axis SCARA robot with DVT vision guided conveyor tracking for packaging or assembly applications. This work cell is used for proof-of-concept presentations using customer parts on the backlit Dorner conveyor. The work cell is also used to demonstrate reliability, create time studies and test accuracy.
The technology uses the DVT camera to capture initial X, Y, and theta coordinates of the part. The robot then tracks the parts until they are within its “work envelope,” using simple Ethernet communication between the DVT camera, the robot, and an encoder on the conveyor.
Other products represented in the work cell include:
• Maytec aluminum structural framing
• STI safety light curtain and door interlock sensors
• Omron PLC and HMI
• Dorner custom 3200 series backlit conveyor for vision inspection
• SMC valves and vacuum generator for the robot end-of-arm-tooling
• DVT's 544C Legend series high resolution color smart image sensor
The entire work cell is being controlled locally by the Omron PLC, which is networked to other PLCs for remote monitoring, control, and programming from anywhere in the plaza’a virtual factory.
