PLC 203 Advanced PLC Programming
Class Description:

In a continuing progression of our PLC series, the student will be introduced to the different methods of networking. The session will introduce different networking methods including: Ethernet/IP, CompoNet and DeviceNet. The course will provide details on each network, reinforce the use of instructions in networks, and will offer hands-on activities utilizing software modules from the CX-One software suite.
Prerequisite: PLC 202

TOPICS:

  • Configuring the “Rack” Controller: I/O table set-up
  • Configuring Ethernet/IP Peer-to-peer communications
    • CX-Integrator use for Routing Tables
    • Network configurator for tag data links
  • Interfacing to external devices: ASCII command strings
  • Function Block programming
    • Intro and overview
    • Terms: Definitions, Instances, Parameters, and Variables
    • (2) labs with serial interfacing
    • (6) labs building custom function block
    • Intro to Structured Text function block programming
Lunch is provided for day classes, and dinner is provided for evening classes (dinner available at class start).
