Motion Industries, Inc., a leading distributor of maintenance, repair, and operation replacement parts and a wholly owned subsidiary of Genuine Parts Company, announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Applied Machine and Motion Control, Inc. (AMMC), a Kentucky-based supplier of motion control and automation products and services. The transaction closed with an effective date of September 1, 2020.


Founded in 1995, AMMC is headquartered in Park Hills, Kentucky, outside of Cincinnati. The majority of AMMC's business comprises the markets of Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. The company's engineering and application expertise propels its specialty services including motion control, drives, HMI, PC and embedded control, automation control, mechanical, robotics, motors, and mechatronics. AMMC's customer base consists primarily of OEMs, plus a number of end users.

Motion Industries acquires Sterling ES

On April 1, 2018, Motion Industries purchased Sterling ES of Salem, VA to increase the BRAAS presence in the Southeast and attain a larger footprint in the industrial networking space.


Sterling focuses on networking/communications products for Industrial and Infrastructure applications and Instrumentation for various process applications. The Sterling team is now integrated with BRAAS, giving their customers access to a broader range of products and capabilities. Key lines for Sterling are CalAmp, Moxa (also sold by BRAAS), Toshiba and Kobold.
Sterling’s highly trained staff and office location in the Salem office is remaining the same, while the name will change to BRAAS.

New ServoWeld actuators from Tolomatic are redesigned for higher performance and are lighter weight compared to other screw technologies. Featuring roller screws designed and manufactured by Tolomatic, the ServoWeld actuators are made especially for resistance spot welding (RSW) applications in the automotive industry. The ServoWeld actuators deliver 20 million welds or more, much longer than competing technologies such as ball screws and inverted roller screw actuators, according to Tolomatic.


The ServoWeld Advanced (SWA) actuator is based on the highest level roller screw technology available to deliver the maximum number of welds. The ServoWeld Base (SWB) actuator is built on an alternate roller screw design to provide longer life than typical ball screw and inverted roller screw technology, but at a more economical price than the SWA actuator.
